Our history
From country house to four-star resort – Ramside’s story spans generations.
Before 1963
Originally the home of the Pemberton family, Ramside Hall was a grand country house set within stunning grounds in County Durham.
1963
The estate was converted into a hotel, laying the foundations for what would become one of the North East’s most well-regarded stays.
1996
Ramside launched its first 18-hole championship golf course, attracting golfers from near and far.
2015
A major expansion introduced a second championship course, a new wing with 47 premier rooms, and the award-winning Ramside Spa.
Today
Now the largest privately-owned luxury hotel in County Durham, Ramside continues to welcome guests from across the globe for stays, spa days, golf breaks and more.
